The Oregon Chapter of the International Association of Special Investigation Units’ (OR-IASIU) Special Recognition Program recognizes those who have made a positive impact in the fight against insurance fraud.  There are three categories to consider under this program:  (1) Investigator of the Year Award; (2) Public Service Award and; (3) Outstanding Service Award.

Investigator of the Year Award

 

OR-IASIU’s Investigator of the Year Award will recognize those who make special contributions to the industry, an individual’s company and the community.   To be considered for the Investigator of the Year Award, the nominee must be a member in good standing of OR-IASIU and IASIU during the year of the award and at the time of the award.  The nominated contributions must have occurred during the year of the award.  The investigation can either be a single investigation or a body of work.

 

The factors considered in evaluating the nominees include:

         

·         Impact made to the nominee’s special investigation unit

·         Impact made to the nominee’s company

·         Positive effect the nominee’s  investigation(s) and anti-fraud contributions have on the insurance industry

·         Positive effect the nominee’s investigation(s) and anti-fraud contributions have on the outside community

·         Uniqueness and exceptional qualities of the investigation(s)

 

Public Service Award

 

OR-IASIU's Public Service Award recognizes Law Enforcement, Prosecutors, Public Agencies and similar agencies. To be eligible, an investigation, prosecution or other civil or criminal sanction or enforcement action must have occurred during the year of the award. The nominee must be a member in good standing of their department during the investigation time period.

 

Considerations for award include:

 

  • Positive effect the investigation had on the insurance industry

  • Positive effect the investigation had on the outside community

  • Uniqueness and exceptional qualities of the investigation

 

While it is important to share information about the background and outstanding personal attributes of the investigator to the committee, the award is based solely on the investigation as it is presented by the contributor.

 

Outstanding Service Award

 

OR-IASIU's Outstanding Service Award recognizes contributions to the insurance industry, an individual's company, the community and the association. Nominees may be anyone who has made a substantial contribution to the insurance anti-fraud efforts. 

 

Award Process

 

Nominations and documentation must be submitted to the OR-IASIU Awards Committee within specified time frames each year.

 

The nomination for all awards shall be sent to the Oregon Chapter by a current member.  The nomination will outline the contributions, investigations and service of the nominee, and will identify why the nominee should be considered for an award.  The Oregon Chapter Awards Committee will evaluate each nomination and present its recommendation to the Board.

 

Award

 

The Investigator of the Year Award, Public Service Award and Outstanding Service Award shall be presented to the recipients at the Annual Conference.  All awards shall include a plaque identifying the award.  The Investigator of the Year Award and Public Service Award shall also include one year’s membership to the International Association, and one year’s membership to the Oregon Chapter.
